Donation Guidelines

Financial Donation Guidelines
100% of cash donations received will be used to purchase children's books/textbooks in Tanzania or to cover shipping costs of donated books.  By purchasing books in Tanzania, we not only eliminate the cost of transportation, but the funds help boost the local economy.   A $10 donation can purchase three government recommended textbooks.

You can donate money safely through PayPal (just click the donate button below).  Unfortunately, we are not setup as a non-profit charity so your contribution is not tax deductible.

Book Donation Guidelines

We have borrowed the following book donation guidelines from the well respected charity Room to Read.  Making donations that meet these guidelines will ensure that your gift help the children of Maromboso Primary School.
  • Preferably new, or slightly used, condition
  • Picture books for young children who can't yet read
  • Simple children's storybooks (think Clifford the Big Red Dog or Hop on Pop)
  • ABC and 123 books, or anything suitable to teaching young children the English language – the school teaches 100% in English
  • Hardcover books that are thick and durable
  • Educational books that are fun - science, geography, math, world history, etc.
Certain materials and subjects are not appropriate for this project, including:
  • Culturally-sensitive topics (examples include materialism, books about sports cars, single parent families, and other topics that are mainstream in the U.S., but not in Tanzania)
  • Religious books
  • Books not appropriate for young children
  • Fiction such as "dime-store" novels, mysteries, romance
  • Journals and magazines
  • Textbooks – we can use cash donations to locally purchase the government-set curriculum textbooks
  • Supplementary materials or single use items such as: lab manuals, study guides, teacher's editions, workbooks, or craft kits
