Shelves Under Construction

Under construction!  The fundi (swahili word for workman/repairmen) has been hard at work on the construction of book shelves for the library books.  Leigh and I were both thrilled that the school is fulfilling their portion of the partnership.  Now all the books will have a home.  The shelves will be completed on Wednesday, January 5th so we'll begin stocking shortly after completion.

There is more than enough room for all the books but the extra space gives the library room to grow.  We are very excited for the book shelves, librarian desk, study table and kids reading corner.  Leigh and I have given some minor suggestions but the school management has truly taken over this portion of the project.

Back at the apartment, Leigh has been hard at work cataloging all the books.  We have chosen a book cataloging software which will service as the electronic card catalog.  It's a tough job getting the pertinent data into the system and the task has given us a new found appreciation for librarians everywhere.
